Akshaya Tritiya Festival Significance

వైశాఖ మాసం శుక్ల పక్షంలో తృతీయ తిథి రోజును  అక్షయ తృతీయ అని ఒక పర్వదినంగా జరుపుకుంటాము. దీనికి కారణం ఏమిటి అంటే జ్యోతిష్య శాస్త్రం ప్రకారం ఈ అక్షయ తృతీయ రోజున నవగ్రహ కూటమి రారాజు సూర్యుడు మేష రాశిలో తన ఉచ్చ స్థానంలో మరియు నవగ్రహ కూటమి కి తల్లి వంటి  చంద్రుడు వృషభ రాశిలో తన  ఉచ్ఛ స్థితులలో ఉంటారు.

We celebrate the third day of the bright fortnight in the month of Vaishakha as the auspicious festival of Akshaya Tritiya; this is highly significant because, according to Vedic astrology, the Sun (the king of the planets) reaches its state of exaltation in Aries while the Moon (the mother of the planets) simultaneously reaches its highest exaltation in Taurus on this very day.

ఈ ఖగోళ స్థితి వల్ల ఈ రోజు అత్యంత శక్తివంతమైనది. ఇదే రవి - చంద్ర గ్రహ కూటమి ప్రతీ సంవత్సరం వైశాఖ మాసం శుక్ల పక్ష తదియ తిధి నాడు పునరావృతం అవుతుంది. ఇది ప్రకృతిని సృష్టించిన ఆ అఖండ పరాశక్తి స్థిరపరిచిన స్వయం సిద్ధ ముహూర్తం. ఈ రోజున ఏదైనా మంచి పని ప్రారంభించడానికి ప్రత్యేకంగా ముహూర్తాలు చూడాల్సిన అవసరం లేదు. ఇంతటి విశిష్టత కలిగిన ఈ రోజున ఏ పుణ్య కార్యం చేసినా దాని పుణ్య ఫలితం అంతం లేకుండా కొనసాగుతూ ఉంటుంది అని ఆ సర్వేశ్వరుడు శ్రీ పార్వతీ దేవికి ఉపదేశించారు. అందుకే వైశాఖ మాసంలో వచ్చే శుక్ల పక్ష తదియ రోజును అక్షయ తృతీయ అని పిలుస్తారు. సంస్కృతంలో 'అక్షయ' అంటే 'క్షయం లేనిది' లేదా 'ఎప్పటికీ తరిగిపోనిది' అని అర్థం. ఈ రోజున చేసే ఏ శుభకార్యమైనా, దానధర్మాలైనా అనంతమైన ఫలితాలను ఇస్తాయని మన పురాణాలు చెబుతున్నాయి.

This celestial alignment makes the day exceptionally powerful, as this specific conjunction of the Sun and Moon recurs every year on the third day of the bright fortnight in the month of Vaishakha. It is considered a "Swayam Siddha Muhurta"—a self-manifested auspicious moment established by the supreme primordial power of nature—meaning there is no need to search for a specific auspicious time to begin any good deed. Lord Shiva himself enlightened Goddess Parvati, explaining that any virtuous act performed on this day yields spiritual merit that flows eternally without end. This is why it is called Akshaya Tritiya; in Sanskrit, 'Akshaya' means 'undecaying' or 'that which never diminishes.' Our Puranas affirm that any auspicious task or act of charity performed on this day yields infinite and everlasting results.

ఈ రోజుకు సంబంధించి అనేక పురాణ విశేషాలు ఉన్నాయి. వాటిలో కొన్ని విశిష్టమైన గాధలను పరిశీలిద్దాం. / There are numerous Puranic legends associated with this day; let us explore some of these significant and sacred stories.

• కృతయుగం ప్రారంభమైన రోజు ఇదే. కృతయుగం లో ధర్మం నాలుగు పాదాలపై నడిచిన యుగం. ఎటువంటి కల్మషం లేకుండా ప్రజలు జీవించిన యుగం ఇది. ఈ కృతయుగాన్నే స్వర్ణ యుగం అని పిలుస్తారు.

• This day marks the beginning of the Krita Yuga (the Satya Yuga), an era where Dharma stood firm on all four pillars. It was an age where people lived lives of absolute purity, free from any trace of corruption or malice; consequently, this Krita Yuga is famously hailed as the Golden Age.

• అక్షయ తృతీయ రోజునే మహర్షి వేద వ్యాసుడు మహాభారత కావ్యాన్ని రాయవలసిందిగా వినాయకుడిని కోరారు. శ్రీ గణపతి తన దంతాన్ని విరిచి కలంగా మార్చుకుని, వ్యాసుడు చెబుతుండగా భారతాన్ని రాయడం ప్రారంభించిన పవిత్రమైన రోజు ఇదే. అంటే, ప్రపంచంలోనే అతిపెద్ద ఇతిహాసానికి పునాది పడిన రోజు ఈ అక్షయ తృతీయ రోజు.

• On the day of Akshaya Tritiya, Maharishi Veda Vyasa requested Lord Ganesha to scribe the epic Mahabharata. It was on this sacred day that Ganesha broke off his own tusk to use as a pen and began writing the epic as Vyasa dictated it; thus, Akshaya Tritiya marks the very day the foundation was laid for the world's largest epic.

• కాశీలో శివుడు సైతం భిక్షాటన చేసినప్పుడు, పార్వతీ దేవి అన్నపూర్ణగా అవతరించి ఆయనకు భిక్ష వేసింది ఈ అక్షయ తృతీయ నాడే. అందుకే ఈ రోజున చేసే దానాలకు, ముఖ్యంగా అన్నదానానికి అంతటి ప్రాముఖ్యత ఉంది. కనీసం పెరుగు అన్నం అయినా ఆర్తులకు దానం చేయమని చెప్పడానికి గల కారణం ఇదే. ఈ రోజున అన్నపూర్ణాష్టకం పఠించడం విశేష ఫలాన్ని ఇస్తుంది.

• It was on this very day of Akshaya Tritiya that Goddess Parvati incarnated as Annapurna to offer alms to Lord Shiva himself when he sought bhiksha (alms) in Kashi. This is the reason why performing acts of charity on this day—especially Annadanam (the donation of food)—is considered so significant; it is even suggested that one should at least offer curd rice to the needy. Furthermore, chanting the Annapurna Ashtakam on this day is believed to bestow immense divine blessings.

• స్వర్గంలో ప్రవహించే గంగా నది, భగీరథుని తపస్సుకు మెచ్చి భూమికి దిగివచ్చిన రోజు.

• It was on this day that the celestial river Ganga, moved by the intense penance of King Bhagiratha, descended from the heavens to the earth. 

• విష్ణుమూర్తి ఆరవ అవతారమైన పరశురాముడు కూడా జమదగ్ని మహర్షికి  మరియు రేణుకా దేవికి అక్షయ తృతీయ రోజున జన్మించారు.

• Lord Parshurama, the sixth avatar of Lord Vishnu, was also born to Maharishi Jamadagni and Renuka Devi on the auspicious day of Akshaya Tritiya.

• కుచేలుడు తన మిత్రుడైన శ్రీకృష్ణుడిని కలిసి అటుకులు సమర్పించినప్పుడు, కృష్ణుడు అతనికి అక్షయమైన సంపదను ప్రసాదించిన రోజు కూడా అక్షయ తృతీయ. నిజానికి కుచేలుడు కృష్ణుడిని ఏదీ అడగలేదు, కేవలం తన వద్ద ఉన్న కొద్దిపాటి అటుకులను ప్రేమతో ఇచ్చాడు. అంటే, మన దగ్గర ఉన్న దానిలో కొంత భాగాన్ని నిస్వార్థంగా ఇతరులకు ఇస్తే, అది అక్షయంగా తిరిగి వస్తుందనే సందేశం ఇందులో ఉంది.

• Akshaya Tritiya is also the day when Kuchela (Sudama) met his friend Lord Krishna and offered him a handful of flattened rice, in return for which Krishna blessed him with inexhaustible wealth. Interestingly, Kuchela never asked for anything; he simply offered the little he had with pure love. This story carries a profound message: when we unselfishly share a portion of what we possess with others, it returns to us in an "Akshaya" or limitless manner.

• మహా భారత ఇతిహాసంలో వనవాస సమయంలో ద్రౌపదికి సూర్య భగవానుడు 'అక్షయ పాత్ర'ను ఈ అక్షయ తృతీయ రోజునే ప్రసాదించారు.

• In the epic Mahabharata, it was on this very day of Akshaya Tritiya that Lord Surya bestowed the 'Akshaya Patra' (the inexhaustible vessel) upon Draupadi during the Pandavas' exile in the forest.

• ఉత్తరాఖండ్‌లోని ప్రసిద్ధ పుణ్యక్షేత్రం బద్రీనాథ్ ఆలయ తలుపులను ప్రతి సంవత్సరం శీతాకాలం తర్వాత ఈ అక్షయ తృతీయ రోజే తెరుస్తారు. మంచుతో నిండిన పర్వతాల మధ్య ఉండే ఈ ఆలయములో ఆ శర్వేశ్వరుడి దర్శనం ఈ రోజు నుండే ప్రారంభం కావడం ఒక ఆధ్యాత్మిక వేడుక.

• The doors of the famous Badrinath Temple in Uttarakhand are reopened every year on the day of Akshaya Tritiya after the winter break. It is a grand spiritual celebration as the gates of this sacred shrine, nestled amidst the snow-capped mountains, open for the darshan of Lord Narayana starting from this very day.

• మన ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్‌లోని సింహాచలం క్షేత్రంలో శ్రీ వరాహ లక్ష్మీనరసింహ స్వామి వారి నిజరూప దర్శనం లభించేది కేవలం ఈ అక్షయ తృతీయ రోజే. ఏడాది పొడవునా చందన లేపనంతో కప్పబడి ఉండే స్వామి వారిని ఆ లేపనం తొలగించి దర్శించుకునే ఈ వేడుకను 'చందనోత్సవం' అని అంటారు.

• In our Andhra Pradesh, at the sacred Simhachalam shrine, the Nijarupa Darshanam (the original form) of Sri Varaha Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy is available to devotees only on the day of Akshaya Tritiya. This grand celebration is known as 'Chandanotsavam,' as it is the only day the thick sandalwood paste that covers the deity throughout the year is removed, allowing pilgrims to witness the Lord in his true form.

• జైన పురాణాల ప్రకారం, మొదటి తీర్థంకరుడైన వృషభ దేవుడు ఒక సంవత్సరం పాటు కఠిన తపస్సు ముగించిన తర్వాత, ఈ రోజునే 'చెరకు రసం' స్వీకరించి ఉపవాసం విరమించారు. ఈ వృషభ దేవుడినే ఆదినాథుడు అని కూడా సంభోదిస్తారు. జైన సంప్రదాయంలో ఈ అక్షయ తృతీయ రోజును 'ఆహార్ చర్యా' అని పిలుస్తారు.

• According to Jain scriptures, Lord Rishabhadeva—the first Tirthankara, also known as Adinath—broke his rigorous year-long penance on this very day by accepting sugarcane juice as his first meal. In the Jain tradition, this significant event associated with Akshaya Tritiya is commemorated as 'Ahār Charyā.'

ఈ అక్షయ తృత్రియ రోజున చేసే దానం అత్యంత పుణ్యప్రదం అని మన మహర్షులు పేర్కొన్నారు. ఈ రోజున ముఖ్యంగా జల పాత్రలు, విసనకర్రలు, గొడుగులు, బియ్యం లేదా పప్పు ధాన్యాలను దానం చేయడం వల్ల పితృదేవతల ఆశీస్సులు లభిస్తాయని నమ్మకం. సిరి సంపదలకు అధిదేవత అయిన శ్రీ మహాలక్ష్మిని, కుబేరుడిని ఈ రోజున పూజించడం విశేషమైన పుణ్య ప్రదం.  ఈ రోజున బంగారం లేదా ఇతర ఆస్తులు కొంటే అవి అక్షయంగా మరొక విధంగా చెప్పాలి అంటే నిరంతరంగా  వృద్ధి చెందుతాయని ఒక బలమైన సామాజిక నమ్మకం ఏర్పడి ఉంది.

Our sages have stated that charity performed on the day of Akshaya Tritiya is exceptionally meritorious; it is believed that donating water pots, hand fans, umbrellas, rice, or lentils on this day specifically invokes the blessings of one's ancestors (Pitru Devatas). Worshipping Goddess Lakshmi, the deity of wealth and prosperity, and Lord Kubera on this day bestows immense spiritual merit, and there is a strong cultural belief that purchasing gold or other assets on this day ensures they remain "Akshaya"—meaning they will grow and multiply continuously.
